SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
The suspect entered the Umpqua Bank on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at about
2:32 PM and contacted one of the bank tellers. The suspect handed the teller
a note claiming that he had placed a bomb at the Los Molinos High School.
The suspect then demanded money from the teller and threatened that if they
did not cooperate, he would detonate the bomb. The suspect also made a hand
motion to the teller indicating he had a gun in his waistband. No weapon was
seen by the teller or bank staff. The teller complied by handing the suspect
an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect left the bank after placing
the currency into his pocket. The suspect left the bank through the front
door and walked north past the Post Office. No vehicle was seen, and the
whereabouts or activities of the suspect are not known after he passed the
post office.
Los Molinos High School was notified and subsequently evacuated as a
precaution. The school was searched by sheriff’s personnel and no
destructive device was located.
Below are two photos of the suspect. If you have seen, know, or have any
